Meet the IndiCater team – Stuart Moore

With a career spanning both operations and sales, Stuart has a wealth of experience, a deep understanding of the challenges hospitality businesses face, and a real passion for helping clients succeed. From his early days in restaurant kitchens to nearly two decades in foodservice sales, Stuart has seen the industry from all angles – and he’s always been driven by one thing: building great, long-lasting relationships.

Whether he’s helping operators streamline their processes, championing the power of data, or offering a helping hand with his daughter’s latest DIY project, he’s always looking for ways to make life a little easier for those around him.

Let’s get to know IndiCater’s Head of Sales and Marketing, Stuart Moore a little better…

1. Can you tell us more about your role at IndiCater?

My role is all about relationships. Whether I’m working directly with our clients – both long-standing and new – collaborating with partners, or supporting our internal teams, my focus is always on making sure we’re delivering real value where it matters most.

A big part of what I do is helping hospitality operators simplify the way they manage their businesses. I’m all about efficiency – helping them save time, reduce costs, and ultimately thrive in what is an incredibly fast-moving, fast-changing industry. I’m also a huge advocate for data and how powerful it can be when used properly. Hospitality professionals are constantly juggling a million things, and I’ve been in their shoes – I know how relentless the day-to-day can be. That’s why having the right tools in place to make informed, data-driven decisions is essential.

One of the most rewarding parts of my job is seeing our clients succeed, especially those who start with just a few sites and then grow and grow. Watching them gain control over their operations and ultimately thrive with IndiCater’s support never gets old.

2. Tell us about your connection to the hospitality industry?

Hospitality has been a part of my life since I was 14. My first introduction into the industry was during a work experience placement in a hotel kitchen in my hometown of Chesterfield. That initial experience led to a Saturday job, which sparked my passion for food and service and ultimately set me on a path towards a career in the industry.

After my A-levels, I pursued a degree in Catering and Hotel Management at what is now the University of Gloucestershire. From there, I took on my first management role running a table-service restaurant in the Bentalls department store in Bristol, before moving on to Massarella Catering Group Ltd. These hands-on experiences taught me a lot about the importance of structure and process in running a successful operation – lessons that I still carry with me today.

As my career evolved, I transitioned into sales, joining Larderfresh as an Area Sales Rep and spending nearly two decades with the Brakes Group. In that time, I worked closely with businesses of all sizes, supporting them with menu planning, product consulting, and contract negotiations. Having been both behind the scenes and on the front lines, I’ve developed a deep understanding of what operators need to thrive. That perspective helps me identify opportunities to make life easier for our clients, ensuring they have the systems and insights they need to run smoothly and profitably.

3. What do you love most about IndiCater?

What excites me most about working at IndiCater is seeing the impact that data-driven decision-making can have on a business. Hospitality generates an enormous amount of data, but without the right systems in place, it can be overwhelming. Helping clients get access to that information, streamline their operations, and ultimately make more informed, strategic decisions is incredibly fulfilling.

I also love working with third-party systems and partners to create an integrated ecosystem that allows our clients to access and utilise their data without the need for manual intervention. Watching our development team bring these integrations to life is always impressive – they are second to none when it comes to creating seamless, efficient solutions.

4. What do you think the future holds for IndiCater, and how do you see yourself contributing?

The hospitality industry is evolving rapidly, and the operators and businesses that embrace data and technology will be the ones best positioned to succeed. The ability to access and interpret key metrics is a necessity for profitability and growth. IndiCater sits at the heart of this, providing businesses with the tools they need to make smart, strategic decisions.

I see my role as continuing to bridge the gap between technology and the real-world needs of hospitality businesses. By helping our clients understand how to leverage their own data effectively, I hope to play a part in making their businesses more efficient, resilient, and ultimately more successful.

5. And when you’re not building relationships at IndiCater, how do you spend your time?

Outside of work, family time is a big priority for me. My eldest daughter has just bought her first house, which means I’ve officially stepped into full-time DIY dad duties! Meanwhile, my youngest is based out in Southeast Asia, so I’m in the middle of planning an exciting trip to go and visit!

I also spend a lot of my time at my allotment it’s my little escape, a place to clear my head and channel my inner farmer!

6. You know we’re all about food, so what’s your favourite dish to cook or eat (or BOTH!)?

I love creating! The kitchen is my happy place. Food of any type is a great way to bring family and friends together whether it’s a BBQ or a dinner party.

One of my absolute favourites to cook is a classic Sunday roast. It’s a real crowd-pleaser in our house; I love having the family round the table eating the food I’ve spent time preparing.

7. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received, and why does it stand out to you?

“Never prejudge – always seek to understand the other person’s point of view.”

This advice has stuck with me throughout my career and personal life. It’s easy to make assumptions but taking the time to listen and genuinely understand where someone is coming from can completely change the way you approach a situation.

Empathy and open-mindedness go a long way in my eyes.

8. Finally, what advice would you give to someone considering a career in hospitality?

Go for it – you won’t regret it! Hospitality is an industry like no other. The connections you make, whether with colleagues or the people you serve, are invaluable. It’s an industry built on people and passion, and there’s never a dull moment.

If you’re someone who thrives on variety, enjoys working as part of a team, and takes pride in creating great experiences for others, then hospitality has so much to offer.
